Having spent most of my life back in India, I made a big move across the world leaving behind family and career with a newborn. 8 years later now Im living my best life with my boys (7 and 4) and my husband in london Ontario. I own a small home based boutique Noolyaappu while managing my full time IT career and the family. I turned my hobby of sewing to become a self-learnt seamstress/designer during my career break. I used my break time to explore and learn a lot of things around me which included keeping my kids active. While sharing that journey of mine through my insta handle @ammaandherboys I got a good response from people which led to creating my own blogging space. This additionally brought me a lot of opportunities to write guests and also become a part of a writing team for a mom community page in Minnesota. I realized sharing my ups and downs as an expat parent was relatable to many of them. When I saw one such opportunity in Toronto tamilargal I was so glad to be part of it. This community has been extremely active with engaging the members in many ways. To be part of this wonderful group of volunteers who has selflessly come forward to impart their knowledge with others is definitely a proud moment for me

Hello everyone, Ramya here; the founder and instructor of Ramya’s Art Club. I was born and brought up in Salem, India. Ever since I was a kid, I had a love and passion for art. I would try all the different types of arts and had learned from every art show as a kid. I have made many crafts/pieces of artwork all around my house. My love and passion for art didn’t just end in my childhood, I had completed my Masters’ Degree in Fashion Designing as an adult. I started a designer’s boutique called “Ramya couture” back in India. Since we had moved to the USA, I was forced to stop my business. But my love for art didn’t just end there, I wanted to share my knowledge of art down to next generations, deciding to become an art teacher. So, I started “Ramya’s Art Club”, taking classes for kids, teens, and ladies. I’ve always enjoyed being an art teacher, passing down knowledge about art that might become forgotten and having a blast with the kids. The happy faces of the children after looking at their completed pieces of artwork has always been priceless. I believe I have always been a good helper, and I like to surround myself with good people. This is the reason why I joined as a volunteer in the Toronto Tamizhargal group, to help connect Tamizhargal across the GTA. After volunteering for Toronto Tamizhargal group, I started a digital weekly series for 8 weeks on every “Trending Tuesdays” about Visual Arts. My series had information on different types of art styles all around the world. I hope that kids of the next generation become skilled in art as well, thank you for your time and attention!
